BeGone – Browser-Based Multiplayer FPS
BeGone is a free online first-person shooter that runs directly in your browser using the Unity plugin. While it features just one map, it offers a fast and accessible experience without the need for a full download.
Smooth Visuals with Unity
Though browser-based, the game delivers surprisingly solid graphics thanks to the Unity engine. It's not on par with big-budget titles, but it looks impressive for what it is. You can switch between first-person and third-person perspectives, although the character animations are fairly basic. Audio is minimal, mostly limited to ambient sounds, gunfire, and occasional groans.
Team Battles and Weapon Upgrades
Each match can support up to 12 players split into two teams. Players spawn at opposite ends of the map and battle it out, earning money for each kill. This in-game currency can be used to purchase better weapons, though there's no matchmaking system to separate beginners from more experienced players.
Performance and Gameplay
While gameplay is usually smooth, there can be occasional frame rate drops, particularly during intense firefights. At times, bullet animations may fail to display, making it seem like you're being hit by invisible gunfire. These issues can affect the overall experience, though they don't completely overshadow the game’s potential.
Promising But Rough Around the Edges
BeGone stands out as a technically impressive browser FPS, showcasing what’s possible without traditional installations. While not as refined as full-featured shooters, it offers a glimpse of the future of browser-based multiplayer gaming.
